Background:
Jagriti Nepal is a non-profit nongovernmental organization self-motivated to gear up sustainable community development with social cohesion, goodwill and economic prosperity. Jagriti Nepal motivates social changes by mobilization of micro-resources including youth forces. It is registered as nongovernmental organization at District Administration Office; Ilam with registration number 822 dated 12 April 2012 and affiliated with Social Welfare Council of Federal Government of Nepal. Promotion of environment-friendly sustainable community development by facilitating and collaborating various community organizations and interest groups is one of the principal objectives of Jagriti Nepal. Jagriti Nepal pursues local capacity building in developmental issues, rights protection, and building cohesive active community life, and promoting access to justice to realize social justice as other key objectives.
The conventional approach of planning and development efforts bottlenecks to reach in the targeted community and therefore an NGO can play a complementary role as intermediary between people and government or other donors agency.
- Community development is not one-time slot of effort; rather it needs continues facilitation, promotion and encouragement to people for self-realization through Techinicial, Vocational, Eductional, Training and media house or social mobilization.
- Development projects cannot sustain without people participation and development efforts should aim at building the capacity of local people whom in real sense need development project.
